David was asked to join a review team to address systemic and tactical issues on a large contract. The teams’ objective was to identify and recommend ways to address the contract’s challenges, risks and issues. They spent months interviewing internal and external stakeholders to understand the problems and develop actionable recommendations.
Ensuring Readiness and Achieving Contract Execution Success
As part of the team’s solution, David assumed responsibility for the financial management of the program and worked with the team to develop enhanced financial controls. To do this, David provided guidance and direction to the direct project controller to achieve contract execution success. David’s strong leadership, expertise and experience made him a great mentor and empowered the direct project controller to thrive in their position.
Addressing Process Challenges and Delivering a More Efficient Approach
David’s efforts addressed challenges the customer had been facing with a long-standing process and created a more efficient approach. His financial process improvements and efficiencies led to more consistent practices across the program and enabled better identification of cost overruns, leading the contract to move from over budget to under budget.
David is a critical leader and resource for the program manager. This relationship has built the collaborative bridges necessary to become a trusted advisor. David’s handling of these critical operational issues enabled the program manager to focus on customer relationship, workforce shifts and delivery quality, improvements which are evident in recent feedback from the customer.
